It takes something truly amazing and important for me to post or comment and ‘The First Third’ fits the criteria perfectly. This is a brilliantly observed, funny, poignant novel which deserves to be read widely and achieve great success. The narrator, Bill, and his ordinary yet extraordinary family and friends, remind us what it is to live, love and be human. Refreshing in its honest language and unafraid to depict human relationships with all their flaws and sweetness, this book effortlessly shares a slice of life that is genuinely Australian, yet also universal. I look forward to the next novel by Will Kostakis with all he has to offer.
